What is Fair Trade?

According to the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO), Fair Trade is a trading partnership, based on dialogue, transparency and respect that seeks greater equity in international trade. It contributes to sustainable development by offering better trading conditions to, and securing the rights of, marginalised producers and workers especially in developing countries.

Fair Trade highlights the need for significant change in the rules and practice of conventional trade, and shows that greater justice in world trade is possible when successful businesses put people first.

Fair Trade organisations have a clear commitment to Fair Trade as the principal core of their mission and can be recognized by the WFTO logo.

Additional Notes:

Create Fair Trade has expanded over time and now includes ethically-sourced and sustainable products in addition to the Fair Trade and small producer products to give a broader range of items for you to choose from.

We also stock products that have a WFTO guarantee, and we specialise in sourcing from Nepal's Fair Trade Network. These enterprises can take years to achieve this status and we celebrate and support them in their work.

We also stock Rigon hats as they support The Cancer Council in Australia along with other Australian-based groups.

Most of our pieces are unique, so there may be some variations from the photo when shopping online.
